On Faemiraan

Faemíraan is a dimension or plane of existence connected to Earth not unlike the demonic and elemental planes. Faemíraan is populated by a myriad of species, many of which resemble animals and beasts familiar to Earthlings, but that is where the familiarity ends. The dimension is Escherian, with Wonderland physics and landscapes that defy the human concept of gravity.
While visitors to Faemíraan are few, those that have made the trip and returned with their mental faculties in tact enough to recount their experiences have described fantastic vistas. One such account includes diving to the bottom of a lake only to find the bottom is actually the surface of another lake, somewhere else. Similar wells and pond have been said to exist on floating landmasses, leading to either the 'top' or 'bottom' of the islands.
Faemíraan is magical in nature, with primal arcane energy permeating every facet of the realm. Nearly everything in the realm has some sort of magical property, although the denizens - what we know as Familiars - appear to be unable to generate their own mana. It appears that this is a result of existing in a realm where magic is infinite and eternal. As a result, when a familiar is summoned or otherwise finds itself on Earth, it must either leech off ley lines or other magical creatures. Naturally, it makes sense that a Familiar would attach itself to a mage or witch - individuals capable of generating their own mana - and form a symbiotic relationship.
Something unique to Faemír, natives of the realm, is Singing. Rather than simply speaking spells Faemír have Songs that are the equivalent to spells but are literally sung - the tone, inflection, cadence and all the subtleties of the language are important to the Song. Those that have heard their familiars, or others' Sing describe the Songs as powerful and haunting.
